POPAI Board Meeting Minutes for 9/21/2023

Troy opened the annual business meeting at 12:30pm on September 21, 2023 in French Lick Indiana

Treasurer's Report

As of 8-31-2023, the balance in checking was $106,761.75 and in savings $17,085.14. He explained the board moved $30,000 into a certificate of deposit. He reminded the members our organization utilizes a 3rd party accountant for the taxes, etc.

Membership

As of 9-14-2023: 1146 total current members (991 probation officers, 29 corporate, 126 other). In yesterday’s data entry, for the first time in POPAI History, we have 1,000 active probation officers.
Karen will work on 2024 Department Invoices as editable documents by Halloween in order that any department wanting to pre-pay may.

Awards and Recognition

Rookie of the year award – Abigail O’Brien from Putnam County

Line officer of the year award – Vicki Cale from Wells County

10 year certificates – were presented

25 year awards – were presented

Technology

Karen stated the most visited pages on the POPAI Website are jobs and announcement of the award winners. She is working on creating a new look for the website with the help of a contracted professional graphic designer.

New Business

Troy discussed the salary proposal and the amendments. The recommendation is to increase the minimum salary to $47,500, add an additional step raise, increase the stipend for CPO, ACPO and Supervisors, etc. We should have additional information by the end of the year.

The 2024 POPAI Conference will be September 4, 5 and 6.
