Our friends at IOCS sent updated information and learning opportunities this week.


IYAS Booster: Risk assessment is the foundation of client work. Register here to join us on February 6 from 12-1:30 pm (EST) to review your skills with Indiana’s Youth Risk Assessment System.

Inclusivity in Community Supervision: Serving LGBTQ+ Clients: Learn how we can serve our LGBTQ+ clients in an inclusive way. This includes understanding the differences between gender and sex, the breakdown of the LGBTQ+ acronym, and best practices in serving this community. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and further develop their knowledge and skills for the public we serve. Register here to join us on February 22 from 12-1 pm (EST).

Case Management Booster: Once we have identified our clients’ risks and needs with a quality risk assessment, what do we do with that information? Join us for a review of how to build and execute quality case plans. Register here to join us on March 5 from 12-1:30 pm (EST). Please note to attend this session, you must have already completed the full Case Management training.

Understanding Your Retirement with PERF: Did you know that as a PERF employee, you have an annuity and a pension once you are vested? It is not just that slowly growing account for which you receive quarterly statements. Vested employees get so much more. Register here to join INPRS on March 27 from 1-2:30 pm (EST) for an overview of your retirement benefits as a community supervision employee.

DFR Benefits & Your Client: Many clients access benefits from the Division of Family Resources (DFR), which is part of the Family Social Services Administration (FSSA). Register here to join the DFR on April 11 from 1-2:30 pm (EST) for an overview of benefits, including eligibility, amount determination, and recipient responsibilities.

Carey Guides Booster: Carey Guides and BITS are used to target client skill deficits and criminogenic risks. This session will expand your effective use of the tools, your ability to troubleshoot resistance with clients, and sharpen your interactions with clients. Register here to join us on June 11 from 10-11:15 am (EST). Please note to attend this session, you must have already completed the full Carey Guides training and be an active user.

Justice Services Conference (JSC)

More than 45 session topics are scheduled for the 2024 JSC! Registration will open soon. In the meantime, please send a team photo to iocsjusticeservices@courts.in.gov so we can feature your team on the big screen. It can be fun or formal (or both!).
