POPAI Board seeks to fill Secretary, District 8 Representative, and 2 New At Large Positions

POPAI on 9/10/2022

Update: Intent to Run forms have been submitted to the Board for Secretary, District 8, and the 2 At-Large Board Positions. They will be considered at the October Board Meeting and appointments will be notified after October 12. 2022.

During the Annual Meeting on September 8, 2022 four openings on the Board were announced:

  • Secretary
  • District 8 Representative
  • Two At-Large Positions

Secretary and District 8 were up for election and no one submitted intent to run forms so they are treated as a vacancy as will the two new At-Large Seats.  The new At-Large positions will be up for election during opposing years so they will never both be up for election in the same year. One seat filled this year will be open for reelection in 2023 and the other in 2024.

The At-Large and Secretary positions can be held by any Certified Probation Officer Member of POPAI in good standing, District 8 Representative must be working in Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Martin, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, or Warrick counties.

Article VI, H. Vacancies, Section 2 states that all other vacancies of the Executive Board shall be filled by a majority vote of the remaining membership of the Executive Board if the vacancy occurs more than 120 days before the term of office for that position expires.  The Executive Board shall provide written notice to the membership of the vacancy and shall accept applications to fill the vacancy for no less than fifteen (15) calendar days before voting.

In accordance with the Bylaws, POPAI now seeks to fill these vacancies. Applicants who wish to serve in any of the positions must submit a completed POPAI Intent to run form to Election Chair Mike Small, contact information on the form. Please also note important information on the form including good standing as a POPAI Certified Probation Officer, the availability to attend monthly meetings (in person or via zoom), approval letter from your Chief Probation Officer (if you are not a Chief), and conference attendance.
