The Indiana Office of Court Services and the Indiana Council of Community Mental Health Centers invite you to attend a 75-minute webinar on HEA 1006-2023 Mental Health Emergency Detentions on Wednesday, December 13 from 12:00-1:15 p.m.

The webinar discussion will focus on the changes to the emergency detention statutes, Indiana Code 12-26-5, that went into effect on July 1, 2023; forms and procedure best practice recommendations; local collaboration on policies, guidelines, and procedures (applications, transportation issues, transfers, services on weekends, evaluation); concerns and legislative gaps; and stakeholder perspectives on additional legislative changes to the emergency detention statutes. The faculty will include representatives from the Judicial Conference of Indiana Probate Committee, law enforcement representatives, treatment providers, and a legislative liaison.

After attending this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe the major statutory changes to the emergency detention statutes and areas that require local collaboration to implement.
  2. Identify challenges and gaps in the current statutory processes and procedures.
  3. Articulate the value of local collaboration on guidelines and procedures.
