POPAI Board Meeting Minutes for 06/11/2025

The meeting was called to order at 10:30am

Secretary's Report

President Angela Morris asked if everyone had the opportunity to review the minutes from our May 2025 meeting.   A motion was made by Andria Geigle to accept the minutes and was seconded by Lindsey Villalpando. The motion passed unanimously.

Treasurer's Report

Treasurer Andria Geigle provided the following balances:

  • Checking account balance is $36,614.05
  • Savings account is $68,959.30.
  • CD investment of $32,000.00.

A motion was made by Rupert Strawbridge to accept the Treasurer’s report and was seconded by Lindsey Villalpando. The motion passed unanimously.

Technology

Karen reviewed upcoming calendar items with the Board.

Karen reported the top visits to the website included:

  5. POPAI’s Recommended 2025 Minimum Salary Schedule for Probation Officers

 

Membership

Karen reported current membership numbers, which were as follows:

  • Probation Officer Members                                              1074
  • Corporate Sponsors                                                          29
  • Other  ( Associate, Honorary, Emeritus, and Lifetime)  119

Karen presented a new tool she has created for Board Members to quickly access membership records to assist them.

Karen updated the Board on her efforts regarding Corporate Sponsors at the Fall Conference.

Lindsey presented the Board with options for Polos for 2026 and “Swag” for the Fall Conference.

Education

Shannon Chambers sent a report to the Board via email prior to the meeting with details regarding the upcoming Fall Conference.  It was reviewed and discussed.

Discussion regarding Thursday night events at the Conference was discussed.  Shannon will be asked to reach out to a potential sponsor and report back at the July meeting.

Discussion was held regarding providing hotel rooms to presenters.  Anthony will work with Shannon to develop guidelines to assist with this in the future.

 

Probation Officer Advisory Board Update

Ryan Hull reported that the Advisory Board met yesterday.  He stated this was the first meeting for the recently elected individuals.  Ryan overviewed some of the topics discussed.  He indicated that updated Intrastate forms were reviewed and approved. Those forms will now go to the Probation Committee for review.

Election

Jenny reported that Intent to run forms are now open for this year’s election on the POPAI website.  Elections will be held this year for the following positions:

  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • District Reps: Districts 1, 3, 5, 7 (plus vacant District 6)
  • At-Large Seat #1

Intent to run forms are due by July 21, 2025.

Awards and Recognition

Stephanie reported that the committee has received 4 scholarship applications for the Fall Conference.  The deadline for submissions is July 10, 2025, at Noon.

Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council (JRAC)

The next JRAC meeting will take place on June 27, 2025.

The next EBDM/Local JRAC Workgroup meeting will be held on June 20, 2025.

Old Business

Chad updated the Board on the recent sub-committee meeting regarding the Salary Schedule.

The Board discussed the matter further.  The committee will continue to meet and explore options.

New Business

The Board discussed the current districts for POPAI and possible changes.  No action was taken at this time but will continue to be discussed.

Next Meeting

The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. EST in Hendricks County and via Zoom.

A motion to adjourn was made and seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.
