POPAI is excited to announce details regarding the 2023 POPAI Management Institute and New Chief Probation Officer Orientation for Attendees (Probation Officer Chiefs, Community Corrections Directors, and Leaders in Probation or Community Corrections). Below are details regarding each event in addition to information on how to secure a hotel room at the conference location.
Please note that attendance on all three days will require two separate registrations since Management Institute requires a registration cost while the New Chief Probation Officer Orientation is free for attendees.
2023 Management Institute
March 30, 2023, and March 31, 2023
The 2023 POPAI Management Institute will be held in person at Drury Plaza Hotel in Carmel, Indiana. This year’s institute will be a two-day event geared toward Chief Probation Officers, Community Corrections Directors, Deputy Chief Probation Officers, and Community Corrections or Probation Supervisors throughout the State of Indiana.
The largest and most important agency resource is its staff. The development of employees is a significant investment of time and training dollars. Is your investment protected from the wear and tear of the job? Staff experience unique stressors on the job, which may include secondary trauma and/or direct trauma during critical incidents and their aftermath. This institute will introduce participants to the National Institute of Corrections Guidelines for Peer Support Programs in Community Supervision Settings. Our distinguished presenters will share how peer support is being used in the field to improve the health and well-being of their greatest resource – personnel!

2023 Membership will be required to register for these 2 days, so you can either indicate your 2023 paid status or include 2023 Membership like this:
- If you’ve already paid your 2023 Membership dues, select “Member Registration” at $125
- If you are a Probation Officer and have not yet paid for 2023, use the “Non-Member Registration” to bundle your annual membership with the registration.
Management of Community Corrections agencies are welcome to attend, we’ll just get your membership taken care of separately.
To be invoiced for the event so you can pay by check or AFT you will want to enter the code “invoice” and we will get you an invoice within 5 business days. Please note for those paying via credit/debit card, the transaction fees associated with registration will be passed onto the registrant.
New Chief Probation Officer Orientation
March 29, 2023
The New Chief Probation Officer Orientation is a free training event for all Chief Probation Officers, Assistant Chief Probation Officers, and Supervisors with Probation Departments. The content on this day is so specific it would most likely not directly interest Community Corrections Professionals. This event is free of charge to all attendees, including non-POPAI members. The agenda includes presentations on Probation Standards, Human Resources, Budgeting 101, and a Roundtable discussion with veteran Chief Probation Officers in the State of Indiana. The event will start at 9:00am with registration beginning at 8:00am. The orientation should end around 4:30pm.

Hotel Reservations
You can now reserve your hotel rooms for the 2023 POPAI Management Institute and New Chief Probation Officer Orientation. Rooms are available at $139 a night plus taxes.
