JEFFERSONVILLE — As part of an ongoing effort to raise awareness of human sex trafficking across the state, Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller visited the Clark County Youth Shelter & Family Services facility in Jeffersonville on Tuesday.

The center, which provides support services to abused and neglected youth, houses a population that Zoeller said is particularly at risk of being bought and sold in exchange for sex.

“Runaway girls, they’re the biggest targets,” said Zoeller, who co-chairs the Indiana Protection for Abused and Trafficking Humans Task Force, or IPATH.

Laura Fleming-Balmer, executive director at the youth center, said while some of the youth at the center have experienced human trafficking, it isn’t a large percentage of the youth.
