Bruce C. Embrey

The Honorable Judge Bruce Embrey was the recipient of the 2002 Founder’s Award. Judge Emery began his legal career in Miami County in the 1970’s when he was appointed to serve judge of the Miami County Superior Court. In 1986, he was elected to the Miami Circuit Court where he served as judge until he retired in November of 2002.

During his tenure on the bench, Judge Embrey was a strong advocate for probation services in Indiana. He has been active in training new probation officers through the Indiana Judicial Center’s orientation program and has presented at the Probation Officer’s Annual Meeting as well as several POPAI conferences. Judge Embrey has served on the Indiana Judicial Center’s Board of Directors as well as numerous other committees, boards, and task forces committed to improving the criminal justice system.

Since retiring from the bench, Judge Embrey has opened a private practice in Miami County and serves as a Public Defender. He remains involved in several organizations in the Peru community and also serves as Ringmaster every year for the Circus City Festival’s Youth Circus.
