Secretary’s Report:

Jennifer provided copies of the April minutes. Don moved to accept the minutes. Becky seconded, all were in favor. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:

Madonna provided copies of the Treasurer's Report. The report reflects the balance of the checking account as $10,639.79 and savings as $22, 510.15. Total assets at this time are $33,834.91. Discussion followed. Don moved to accept the Treasurer's Report. Cherie seconded, all were in favor. Motion carried.

Membership:

Lori reports that the POPAI binders for new members are on backorder. They will be sent out to new members in the near future.

Education:

No report.

Awards and Recognition:

Congratulations to DeJuan Jordan, the POPAI 2005 Donald "Charley" Knepple Scholarship recipient. DeJuan graduated from Indiana University in 2003, majoring in criminal justice. She began her career soon after in the Allen County Adult Probation Department as a probation officer. She is currently enrolled in the masters’ level program at Indiana Wesleyan University pursuing a management degree.

Juvenile bills:
HB1001 - Selected portions regarding funding of juvenile placements
HB 529 - Selected portions regarding juvenile placement costs, criminal records checks on individuals residing at an out-of-home placement, and renaming the DFC to the Department of Child Services.

Election:

Nominations are now being accepted for the following positions: Vice President, Treasurer, District One Representative, District Three Representative, District Five Representative, and District Seven Representative. Anyone interested in seeking one of the positions should submit an Intent to Run form. The forms can be found on the POPAI website (www.gopopai.org) or by sending an Intent to Run form (included with the May minutes) to Cherie Wood, Vanderburgh Circuit Court, 501 John Street, Ste. 11, Evansville, Indiana, 47713, fax 812.435.5572, cwood@vanderburghgov.org. Forms should be postmarked (or received via fax or email) no later than July 15, 2005.

Technology:

Don reports that he is happy with the changes made by the webmaster to the POPAI website. Any member signed up for the online POPAI newsletter should be receiving the updates each week. Anyone interested in signing up for the newsletter should visit www.gopopai.org to subscribe.

Chief’s Executive Committee:

The Chief’s Executive Committee sponsored training at the Indiana Judicial Center's Probation Officer's 2005 Annual Meeting. On Thursday, one session of "Current Trends in Probation Technology" and Friday two sessions on "Ethical Response to Hispanic Citizens - Survival Spanish" were presented.

Old Business:

Don provided a copy of a "draft" copy of the by-law changes. Copies of the changes will be provided to membership in July.

New Business:

No report.

Linda moved to close the meeting. Becky seconded, all were in favor. Motion carried.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2005, @ 11 a.m. at the Marion Superior Court Probation South Office.
