Tim McAlhany

The 2004 Founder’s Award was presented to Tim McAlhany, DeKalb County Chief Probation Officer, during the POPAI Fall Conference. Mr. McAlhany is a Charter Member of POPAI and attended the organizational meeting in 1986. He just finished serving two consecutive terms as the District Two Representative on the POPAI Executive Board. In 2002, Mr. McAlhany chaired the 2002 POPAI Fall Conference at Pokagon State Park.

Following his graduation for Indiana University, Mr. McAlhany began his career as a Probation Officer in DeKalb County in 1980. He was named Chief Probation Officer in October of 1982. Tim has seen his staff grow to seven Probation Officers, one officer manager and two secretaries. He has overseen the development of a substance abuse program and home detention program.

In addition to his professional commitments, Mr. McAlhany is a member of the Masonic Order and an active member of the Presbyterian Church.
